About Digital MEdIC
Our vision is to improve global health outcomes by increasing access to medical education and building human capacity. Our mission is to collaboratively create high quality, accessible, and customized healthcare learning experiences that are openly available online to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Scaling up training and education programs to increase human capacity for healthcare delivery is a worldwide challenge; with a growing need for accurate and up-to-date curricula. In January 2016, Stanford Medicine launched the Digital Medical Education International Collaborative - Digital MEdIC – an initiative to address this need by blending sound pedagogy with cutting-edge technology.
Our Solution is Digital MEdIC which reimagines education for tomorrow’s healthcare professionals with a curriculum that is digitally enhanced, customizable, and globally connected. Digital MEdIC offers a learner-centered, competency-based solution that leverages innovative learning technologies, resulting in a transformative online educational experience that is available freely to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
We plan to digitize, modularize, and disseminate our medical school curriculum to a worldwide audience of learners. Using the latest open source learning management systems, and Stanford Medical School’s existing high quality digital content, we will offer flexible learning pathways, and methods for recording and reporting learner progress.
We will freely share our content with institutions globally, starting with India as our first country. In addition, institutions will collaborate with Stanford Medicine’s faculty development and instructional design teams to jointly create customized curricula and novel learning resources.
